About the AAPCC

The American Association of Poison Control Centers is a nonprofit organization representing America’s 57 poison control centers and promoting poison safety and awareness. Our mission is to advance poison centers in their public health mission.

Poison control centers assist with poisoning emergencies and questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The phone number 1-800-222-1222 will connect you to your poison center anywhere in the U.S. Centers take your call in more than 150 languages and from the hearing impaired. Medial experts – nurses, pharmacists, doctors, and other poison specialists – take your calls. When in doubt, check it out. The call is free, private and expert, and we’re always open.

AAPCC has a network of toxicology experts ready to speak about a variety of poison-related topics and maintains the National Poison Data System (NPDS), the only real-time poison surveillance database in the U.S. For more information, visit us online at www.aapcc.org.
